SAVE THE DATE: 26 FEBRUARY 2012

Sunday morning the 26th of February will see the first ever running of the Satori Peak Challenge. Running up Chappies is a favourite pastime of many a Satori runner and so we decided to launch an official challenge.

There will be numerous prizes and not just for the fast guys and perhaps even a double distance challenge for those really fit folk.
The distance is 10km up and down followed by breakfast at Café Roux.

Watch this space for details.

Club runs

Monday evenings, same as last year, leaving from the Baptist Church at 18h00. This run caters for two groups, firstly the beginners or those who feel they need to start 2012 slowly; and secondly for the more experienced runners who would like to run in a group.

The Saturday/Sunday runs will be increasing in distance from 15 km in January leading up to The Two Oceans Marathon, with lovely long runs up to 40 km towards the end of our training. I am looking forward to sharing the hours on the road with you.

Very important please note that the morning runs start at 06h00 during the first term of 2012.

For the Love of It
Andrea!

Tri-ing for The Sunflower Fund - Ironman South Africa 2012

I hope that the start of 2012 has brought a positive start for you and that this year is one of happiness, success, and great memories for you all. On the back of a very successful Argus Cycle Tour fundraiser for The Sunflower Fund in 2011 I have decided to literally go BIGGER andFURTHER in 2012.
Many of you have already seen me out training or have been following my exploits these past few months. Thanks to those of you that have joined me during my training as I really enjoy the company and it makes it more fun.

So what are we doing in 2012?
We have begun an initiative called ‘Tri-ing for The Sunflower Fund’ with the sole purpose of my participating at Ironman South Africa to raise funds and awareness for Leukaemia Charity The Sunflower Fund.
The Ironman South Africa takes place in Nelson Mandela Bay, Port Elizabeth on the 22nd April 2012. An Ironman event comprises a 3.8km Swim, a 180km Cycle and then a 42.2km Run all to be completed in under 17 hours.
It is without a doubt the most challenging event that I have ever attempted and I am nervous yet excited about doing it for such a great cause The Sunflower Fund.

So what can you do?
I need all of the positive support and generosity that you can offer. You can Sponsor me, Donate or perhaps even become a Donor on the Bone Marrow Registry of South Africa. I have attached the Tri-ing for The Sunfower Fund brochure with all of the information details on how to support and also included them below for your convenience. Please pass the information along to others that may be interested in supporting or hearing about what we are Tri-ing to achieve.

The Sunflower Fund’s slogan “Share a Little Save a Life” literally means just that as TOGETHER all our donations big or small DO add up and WILL make an important difference to both The Sunflower Fund and those that suffer from Leukaemia!

Thank you for taking the time to read my email and I thank you in advance for supporting Tri-ing for The Sunflower Fund.

Best
Scotty

Races

Atlantic Athletic Club sincerely regrets the shortage of medals at the finish of the Bay to Bay on Sunday 8th January.

Whilst this was a pre-entry race, entries were taken as advertised up to the day before the race and it is simply not possible to top up orders at such short notice, especially as factories are closed at the time.

It was the unexpected radical growth in the relay which caused the problem. Medal orders were scaled up for all 3 races according to trends over the past few years but the relay numbers this year (492 teams against a conservative estimate of 375) took everyone by surprise. Whilst the 30Km field at 1930 finishers was almost exactly as estimated, medals were transferred across to the relay when the problem became apparent and this is why the 30Km medals ran out as well.

We request finishers who did not receive a medal but still would like one and have not already come forward to please contact us by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and advise:
