Satori Athletics Club was officially born in January 2006. The name 'Satori' refers to a Japanese state of harmonious balance between mind, body and emotions.
The Wednesday evening five kilometre time trial is the central club event of the week. Those not yet bitten by the running bug can join the walkers group, while children are an integral part of the club - there is always a parent watching over them. Once the time trial is over, its time to chill. Sipping a post-run beer or cider with friends while watching the summer sun go down over the Atlantic is idyllic.
Satorians can also be found gathered around braai fires at the Oasis several times a year, and occasionally dancing under the stars to a superb selection of music.
In the end however, Satori is about the pure joy of running. Members come in all shapes and sizes and assorted fitness levels.
Schools Cross-Country Race at Satori
SACS will once again be hosting the inter schools cross-country on Friday 11 May 2012 at the Satori club house. This is the third year that Satori will be involved in this event and it is usually a great success. However, we do need your help. If you are not working in a conventional 9-5 job and can spare the time please contact Charissa (074 190 7535) for details of the event. Your support will be greatly appreciated.
Peak Challenge number two!
The second running of the Peak Challenge will take place on 20 May 2012 with a bit of a twist. The first event started at the Noordhoek Farm Village and the bar was set very high by our runners Ann and Nicky. This time round we will be starting from the clubhouse and thereby adding an additional 4km to the route.
Bacon and egg rolls will be on sale and tea and coffee will be available afterwards so bring the family along and those not running can play (the children that is) or just chill at the new clubhouse until the runners return. We had a lot of fun at the first peak challenge so don’t miss out this time!
Dodo Trail run, Mauritius
HI All
Hope you are all well, I have attached an info sheet on the Dodo trail run in Mauritius. We ran with the organizer last year when we were there and we did about 18km of the route. It was one of the most awesome training runs I have ever done and if you are looking for a challenge then the Dodo run will be it.
The organizer Jan is wanting as many South Africans as possible and has asked me to spread the word. So please if you can send it to your friends, your clubs ( Mates, Satori, Harfield etc) or anyone who has contacts. We are hoping to get him to put the 2013 date in the school holidays but he says they may not have it again if they dont get their numbers in 2012............ that would be a great pity I think!
lots of love
Michelle
